CFN TO LAUNCH NEW PROGRAMS IN SEPTEMBER 2012
At a recent chapel service Academic Dean Ken Deeks announced CFN’s plans to revise virtually all of its current program offerings, and to begin offering several new degree programs beginning September 2012. Currently enrolled students will be able to finish the programs they are in now, or may transfer to one of the new programs. No new students will be accepted into the Degree Completion Program.
DISCIPLESHIP PROGRAMS
The one year discipleship programs, NEXUS and the Certificate of Christian Studies, remain unchanged.
LAY LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
The two-year Diploma of Christian Studies and the three-year Bachelor of Christian Studies will now offer different tracks to help students gain basic skills in (1) church, (2) youth, or (3) music and worship ministry.
TRAINING FOR FULL-TIME MINISTRY
The three-year Bachelor of Theology is replaced by a new four-year Bachelor of Arts in Religion with majors in Pastoral Leadership, and Ancient/Contemporary Worship Studies, and a new major in Youth Ministry. This new degree offers more general studies courses, including History of Western Civilization, General Psychology, English Literature, Literature of C. S. Lewis, Introduction to Philosophy, and Religions of the World.
The new major in youth ministry will include courses like Youth Work Essentials, Dynamics of Leadership in Youth Ministry, Canadian Youth Worker’s Conference, Youth Culture, Philosophy of Youth Ministry, and Youth Ministry Internship.
The Bachelor of Arts in Religion will also include a more rigorous internship component.
Finally, the College will begin offering a new four-year Bachelor of Theology with a major in biblical and theological studies major. This program is ideal for individuals who feel called to a teaching ministry in Bible or theology.
Details of the new programs will be available on our website and in the 2012-2013 Academic Catalogue in the near future.
Students interested in transferring from their current program into one of the new degrees should begin by making an appointment with the Registrar.
